Announcer signal
(Signal avertisseur)

Normal track signal aspect: Counter-track signal aspect: Meaning:
Expect Stop (Deux-Jaunes)

Stop at next signal or buffer.

Expect Reduced Speed 40 kph  (Vert-Jaune Horizontal)

Next signal cleared to diverging track.
Decrease speed to 40 kph.
Announced speed is 40 kph in default of speed indication
(see : indicator boards).
Expect Stop – Forewarning (Vert-Jaune Vertical)

Announces a signal showing
Expect Stop at low distance from the signal showing a stop aspect.
(Expect) Track Clear (Vert)

Proceed and keep normal speed.

2. Stop signals

Spacing signal
(Grand signal d'arrêt permissif)

Spacing Stop (Rouge Permissif)

Next track section occupied,
stop short of the signal.
Track Clear (Vert)

Proceed and reach normal speed.

Extended shape

Basic protection signal
(Signal d'arrêt simplifié)

Signal aspect: Meaning:
Absolute Stop (Arrêt)

All movements must stop short of the signal.
Passing Permitted (Passage autorisé)

Passing permitted for normal and shunting movements.
The signal does not give any information about the track occupancy and the next signals.

Normal protection signal
(Grand signal d'arrêt)

Normal track signal aspect: Counter-track signal aspect: Meaning:
Absolute Stop (Rouge)

All movements must stop short of the signal.
This aspect is generally shown on main tracks.
Shunting Permitted (Rouge et Blanc)

S
hunting movements can proceed, not exceeding 30 kph on track devices.
Spacing Stop (Rouge Permissif)

Next track section occupied,
stop short of the signal.
