Signalling complements

1. Identification plates

Main signal. Can be passed at stop with written order or if a permissive stop aspect is shown.
Main signal. Can be passed at stop, with verbal order.
Main signal. Can be passed at stop, if radio contact with the regulator is not possible.
Main signal. Can be passed at stop, if radio contact with the regulator is not possible. (Berlin and Hamburg S-Bahn).
Main signal. Can be passed at stop with a permission from the regulator. When the permission is grated, the driver must proceed on sight until the next main signal. (Berlin S-Bahn)
Line-close signal. Can be passed at stop with written order.
Main signal. Stop aspect does not concern shunting movements.
Announciator signal.
Announciator signal. Announced signal is at low distance. (Hl signals)
Announciator signal. Announced signal is at low distance. (DB mechanical signals)
Repeater signal. (Hl signals)

2. Permissive stop

1)
Main signal can be passed not exceeding 40 km/h on junctions.
(Ersatzsignal)

H/V signal
Hl signal Ks signal

2) Main signal can be passed not exceeding 40 km/h on junctions.
Train is steered to wrong track and the speed limit of 100 km/h must be respected on plain track until next station.

(Gegengleisfahrt-Ersatzsignal)

H/V signal Hl signal Ks signal

3) Main signal can be passed, proceeding on sight until the next signal.
 (Vorsichtssignal)

H/V signal Ks signal

3. Signal placement

Signals are normally set on the right side of the tracks.
When a signal is set at left because of space shortage, this plate is added to its mast.

4. Cancellation

A signal or an indicator board not to take into consideration bears a white cross.

Temporary deactivation

In some junctions, following the different possible directions, several signals may not be useful.
A luminous panel showing a white cross indicates that the concerned signal is temporarily off.
