The high speed lines of the
TGV / Thalys / Eurostar network have a system of beacons retransmitting the signals directly into the driving cabin.


1. 'Cab' boards

These boards indicate the beginning or the end of a line with cab signalling only.








Announcement of cab signalling

These boards are separated of 100 metres.
  Beginning of cab signalling

From this board the ground signals are replaced by cab signals.
  End of cab signalling

From this board the cab signals are replaced by ground signals.


2. Indications in the driver's cabin

A) Speed indications

VL Track clear

This aspect used to allow proceeding at 270 kph,
the highest speed of the first South-Est TGVs.


320VL Track clear

Proceed at the highest speed of the line.
270VL+ Forewarning of restricted speed

Proceed at the highest speed of the line.
An announcement of restricted speed indication is likely to be shown at next track section.
160A Announcement of restricted speed

Slow to indicated speed.
80E Restricted speed

Proceed not exceeding indicated speed.
Zéro Announcement of stop

Stop short of next block section marker.
Can be shown after a restricted speed indication.
Rouge Stop

Stop. Track section occupied.

B) Other indications

KV Speed control

If a speed restriction is not respected, this signal is shown, and the train driver has to brake immediately or else the speed control system stops the train.
Sectionnement Cut current

Prepare to cut current to pass a neutral zone.
BP Lower pantograph

Prepare to cut current and lower pantograph to enter a different phase zone.
