This board
only concerns trains which are able to reach a speed higher than 140 kph.
Specific indication for self-propelled units (TIV de type C)

This board only concerns railcars and multiple units.
It can be combined with an ordinary announcement board.
Forewarning (Tableau P)

This board only concerns trains which are able to reach a speed higher than 160 kph, and commands not to exceed the speed of 160 kph when passing the next distant speed board.
Beginning of slowdown zone (Pancarte Z)

Indicates the beginning of a restricted speed section.
End of slowdown zone (Pancarte R)

Allows trains to resume normal speed.

The 'Z' board can be shown with a speed indication.
(TIV + Z)

B) Specific slowdown zones

These boards concern the fragile structures on which trains with high load per
axle must slow down.

Announcement of speed restriction

Announces a speed restriction for the concerned category of trains.
The number is shown in units of 10 km/h

Beginning of slowdown zone

Indicates the beginning of a section that the concerned category of trains must pass at restricted speed.
End of slowdown zone

Allows trains to resume normal speed.

C) Diverging track

Mechanical speed boards:

On:

Off:

Forewarning (Tableau P)

This board only concerns trains which are able to reach a speed higher than 160 kph, and commands not to exceed the speed of 160 kph when passing the next distant speed board.
No restriction

No speed restriction announced.
Announcement of speed restriction
(Tableau indicateur de vitesse à distance (TIV-D))

Announces a speed restriction.
No restriction

No speed restriction announced.
Execution of diverging speed
(Tableau indicateur de vitesse de rappel (TIV-R))

This board confirms access to diverging track.
No restriction

Concerned points are switched to direct track.

Luminous speed boards:

On:
Off:
Forewarning (Tableau P)

This board only concerns trains which are able to reach a speed higher than 160 kph, and commands not to exceed the speed of 160 kph when passing the next distant speed board.
No restriction

No speed restriction announced.
Announcement of speed restriction
(Tableau indicateur de vitesse à distance (TIV-D))

Announces a speed restriction.
No restriction

No speed restriction announced.
Execution of diverging speed
(Tableau indicateur de vitesse de rappel (TIV-R))

This board confirms access to diverging track.
No restriction

Concerned points are switched to direct track.

2. Points location

(Chevron pointe en bas)

This board indicates points on which a specific speed restriction can be applied.
(Chevron pointe en haut)

This board precedes points approached from inside which have a single signal for both converging tracks.
It also indicates the fouling location of the converging tracks.

3. Directions

Destination indicator
(Tableau indicateur de direction (TID))

This luminous panel indicates the direction in which directs the associated signal.

Example: 'PE' for Paris-Est.
Direction indicator
(Indicateur lumineux de direction (ID))

From 2 to 5 white lights indicate where the associated signal directs to, from the left, geographically (not depending of the points).
The more lights are on, the more the signal directs to the right side.

Example 1

Example 2

Distant direction indicator
(Tableau indicateur de direction à distance (TIDD))

This board lets drivers know in advance whether they are moving in the right direction.

1) announced direction: left; 2)
announced direction: right.

4. Shunting

Steady /
Mechanical
Luminous
Locomotive shop (depot) (Tableau D)

Train is directed to a locomotive shop (depot).
Siding (Tableau G)

Train is directed to a service track.

ou

Dead-end (Tableau Imp / Heurtoir)

Train is directed to a dead-end track.

Sas (Tableau Sas)

Train is directed to a short track section between switching zones.
Limit of shunting (Pancarte LM)

Limit not to pass in shunting movement.

Limit of parking (Pancarte LGR)

Limit not to pass when pushing train to be parked.
Movable catenary (Pancarte K)

This board announces a track with a movable catenary system.
Washing station (Pancarte L)

This board announces a washing station.

5. Track works

Forewarning (Tableau P de chantier)

This board only concerns trains which are able to reach a speed higher than 160 kph, and commands not to exceed the speed of 160 kph when passing the next distant speed board.
Announcement of speed restriction (TIV-D de chantier)

Announces a speed restriction.

If the indicated speed is equal or less than 40 kph, a yellow disc with a blinking yellow light is added to the speed board.
Approach marker (Repère d'approche de chantier)

If the first indication (distant speed board or forewarning board) is at low visibility, it is preceded at least 100 metres by this marker board.
Proximity marker (Repère de proximité de chantier)

If the track works are not notified in the driver's course booklet, the first announcement board is preceded by this marker.
Beginning of slowdown zone (TIV-R de chantier)

Indicates the beginning of a restricted speed section.
End of slowdown zone (Tableau Fin de chantier)

Allows trains to resume normal speed.
Track not concerned by works (Tableau Itinéraire non concerné par le chantier)

The train is proceeding on a diverging track which is not concerned by the track works. Normal speed can be resumed.
Stop for work trains (Pancarte Arrêt des trains du chantier)

Trains used in work area must stop here.

6. Contraflow

Mechanical
Luminous
Entry into contraflow (Tableau d'entrée en contresens (TECS))
